Round and About 3 - Part 60

Hurray, the wire netting has at last arrived, so watch out bunnies, you soon will not be able to get into my vegetable garden!!  The problem is that it has been too cold to work outside, so not much progress has been made.   I have managed an undercoat of paint on the trapdoor, and one coat of gloss, but it is still in need of one or possibly two more coats.

I took these photos last week, so thought that this may be a good time to put them on the blog before they are well and truly out of date.
The wheat fields just before the rain came down.
The grapes are now shooting well. The last picture I took they were only thinking about it!
The newly planted maize.
Calf 9337 so his 'earrings' clearly state if you zoom in.  He was so cute and was very interested in what I was up to.  Mum was also watching me closely to make sure I made no false moves.
I saw this in a shop window in Chasseneuil and thought it was 'something different'.
and lastly, but probably the most important. The war memorial in Chasseneuil where the wreaths had been laid in memory of all who lost their lives in WWII. (Photo taken Victory Day, May 8, 2010)

  1. What is that thing you saw in the shop? I don't know what it is for, but I like it!

  2. That isn't a urinal is it? Fancy one anyway. Have a good day.

  3. Linda, I also liked it, I think it is for hand washing. Fill the top with water and the little tap at the bottom fills the bowl. I did not study it hard enough but I presume there is a hole in the bottom of the bowl to let the water out into a bucket or such! Perhaps I should go into the shop and explore further. LOL. Diane

  6. I like the wall dec from that shop. There's a dairy farm about 6 miles from my where they make their own ice cream. They have baby calves near the store so people can see them; it's a great draw for folks with small children - and for those who just enjoy baby animals! They are always interested in what's going on, just like your little friend.

  7. If that is a urinal, it's the fanciest one I've ever seen. Great photos, as usual.

  8. Oh poor bunnies!! The free meals are at an end. I wonder what they do about them in that wheat field? :)

  10. Marjie, In the UK they have animal farms which are great for town kids who think that milk comes from a bottle! Diane

  12. Hi Joan, The size of the wheat field maybe they don't notice! On the other hand everyone here has veggie gardens so maybe the supply of lettuce and beans means they don't need to eat the wheat! Diane

  15. You live in such a lovely rural area.
I guessing that the ceramic wall piece is a planter. Just a guess ming you. I hope you are having a great day. Blessings...Mary

  16. That's surely unique with the tap and bowl. The calf is adorable! Great with the wire! We have a lot of deers that come into the yard for their meal and then lay right down and mash the flower beds, then they eat out of the bird feeders. Wish they were as easy to keep out as bunnies. Will you be making lots of wine? The crop looks fantastic!

  17. Hi Mary, longpastremembered has identified it as a lavebo, to wash your hands. Yes we are in a lovely area and I appreciate it. Diane

  18. Hi Pam, Sadly the grapes are not ours but a neighbour just up the road. BUT wine is so cheap here that it is hardly worth the effort of making your own when you can buy it cheaper!! I have planted a grape, but we hope to eat those. We are completly hedged so we do not have the deer problem but my neighbour does:-) The rabbits are enough for me to manage! Diane
