Over the weekend, I finally managed to cut away most of the remaining plum tree roots above ground level and fill in the hole. The earth filling will settle, of course, but next year we can carry out final levelling and plant some grass in the spring. There is little point in planting grass with winter approaching. One more job is out of the way, but plans for removal of the fir tree roots are on hold at present, pending arrival of someone's excavator!!
Meanwhile David and family went on holiday yesterday, so I am looking after their house, garden and two cats. I spent an hour there this morning but only found one cat! This really worries me, but I am quite sure the other one is hidden away in either the adjoining forest or field of sunflowers!! Bet he is just laughing at me or sulking because the owners have left him behind, or I hope so anyway. Strangely enough, the one which is now AWOL is the one which usually comes first when I call them. The other one generally takes its time, but then will not let me walk anywhere as he is under my feet constantly. Only when I put down the food did I manage to get him to move far enough away from me to take this picture.
I hope to get some photos of the other one very soon!!!!
P.S. 17 Aug. Two cats at the house this morning:-) Phew, relief.
