Meeting the Happy Frog and winning Dolly Dimple

I have really had a run of blogging luck, the fortunate recipient of three giveaway wins in the last month, and then on Friday I had the pleasure of meeting the Happy Frog.

The Happy Frog lives in a very happy house with a very happy owner. I so enjoyed meeting them both, and over a cup of herbal tea (the only tea that I drink) and a delicious slice of battenburg cake, we just talked and talked. I felt as if I was meeting an 'old' friend, and that we had known each other for ever. Thank you Froggy for a delightful morning and I hope we manage to meet again in the not too distant future. Please go and visit the Happy Frog HERE. In her own words: “In 2005 I moved to Reading from London and Happy Frog was given to me as a house warming present. We have been through our ups and downs but through it all Froggy has kept me smiling. Now we are in agreement that we want to create a heart-warming, fun, at times surreal, happy blog; chocked full of nostalgia with the quite rare, but still evident, odd serious bit thrown in for good measure.”

Here is a picture of the Happy Frog whispering in my ear!  Note the replica of the Tardis on my left, if only I could fit inside!

My first giveaway arrived on Friday and I was delighted to meet Dolly Dimple. Thank you Diane (the other one!) for not only sending me Dolly Dimple, but also for sending me the pattern, so I can make some myself and hopefully find a market for Dolly in France. My thoughts are also running along the lines that maybe I can make a young French lad on similar lines with a rope of onions around his neck :-) Diane (the other one!), as you can see from the photos, is very handy at crafts and here as well as DD, are photos of her card (note the Parisian touch for me) and label that came with her. You can see Diane’s blog at Heart Shaped.
It is full of beautiful photos around the UK and from time to time updates on the beautiful crafts she makes.

Thank you to Diane’s daughter for pulling my name out of the hat, and for giving me the pleasure of winning and meeting Dolly Dimple. Just so you know how big she is I have just measured her and she is 800mm tall (about 2 foot 8 inches).

  4. What a happy post Diane. Froggy has a very content smile on his face as he whispers in your ear. And I love Diane's (the other one!) work. The Paris collage is fascinating so I am hopping over to her blog now for a peek. And thanks for sharing Dolly Dimple with us, she is indeed a lovely Dolly :-)

  5. You certainly have had a run of luck! As I never run giveaways on my blogs I have not tended to enter them. For some reason I was tempted into entering a book giveaway recently which I have won! Think I might enter a few more as always grateful for books. I will now go and visit the new friend perched on your shoulder Diane :)

  11. Lindy for someone who is not normally lucky I had a fantastic run. I want to do another give away but it will have to wait until I get back to France as all my jewellery making equipment is over there. Hope you enjoyed meeting the Happy Frog. Diane

  13. I was thinking the same thing.. time to buy a lottery ticket if you are on a winning roll!
The prizes are sweet but I must say... the tardis caught my eye. Is it a toy??? So adorable for Dr WHo fans! We used to have to get bootlegs of the series over here but now we have BBC America and it even plays on the SYFY channel from time to time.
Great idea to make those dolls for fairs and such... a new cottage industry for handy folks ( I can't sew a stitch!).
FIngers crossed for your lottery win!

  16. lostpastremembered, yes the tardis is a toy but it is quite large. The Happy Frog lives in a home with many exciting bits and pieces around, many with smiley faces.
I think my luck has now run out but I still have a ticket! If you are not in it you can't win it :-) Diane

  25. Little known fact about our TARDIS is that there is a real working phone in it. Is that cool or what?!

  26. Congratulations to you for all your wins and for meeting yet another blogging buddy ;-) Thanks too for your input on my costing question. I really don't think my friend would pay at the higher end of the sweater. Given it's my first one I'm inclined to keep the price on the lower side and chalk this one up to experience. Even so, she may not want to pay the price. I'm just experimenting to see if these things might be worth making for sale. I think I've learned that this pattern is a special one and is better saved for special occasions. I'll look for something quicker to make next. Good luck with finding a market in France for your crafting ideas :-)

  30. Happy Frog, no you did not mention that there was a working phone in the Tardis. What was it Alice in Wonderland had to drink to make her small? I want some of that so I can fit in the tardis to zap back and see how they carved the white horse and moved the stones of Stonhenge :-)))) Diane

  31. Joyful I agree with you if you want to make things to sell you need to make items that are fairly quick. Time factor in the beautiful jacket you have just made means you really don't get back what it is worth. Diane

  32. Mary thank you for your very kind comments, I am still waiting for the lottery win, tickets bought :-)))))) Take care Diane
