Amazing Autumn

I have lost a lot of blog writing time over the past week, so I thought that I would just post these pictures, of subjects displaying what I think are beautiful autumn colours.  Yesterday we drove through the beautiful Oxfordshire village of Goring, so for those who asked me to post some accounts of places in the UK, watch this space.  There will be a post on Goring very soon.  These autumn photos were also all taken in the UK over the past few days.

  12. Joan there are some amazing trees on the way to Nigel's office but there is nowhere to stop and the road is quite busy. Short of parking and then walking some distance I can not get near them to phograph. Time is not on my side at the moment to do that, and it is not a route I often do:-( Diane

  15. Diane you are right it must be something to do with a weather change but not sure what. Diane

  16. Noushka, sadly I am missing the colour change in my oak tree in France, it was still quite green whan I left but I bet it is not any more. Sure that you need the rain, I know we did in the Charente. Take care Diane

  23. Those are some lovely colors. The scarlet maple is outstanding, but I am not familiar with the last tree there, with the gold leaves and the red things hanging on it. Tell me it's an apple tree and I'll cry with shame, but I've not seen one like it.

  24. Absolutely beautiful! Great light on the top pic.

  25. Marjie, the colours seem to be extra good this year. The last tree, to the best of my knowledge, is a Rowan or Mountain Ash - Sorbus Aucuparia. There are many around near here and they are very attractive. Diane

  29. Diane, very stunning colors, especially the red. The last tree is very pretty. Looks like there are pods on it and the leaves almost look fern like. I see now your earlier comment. But pods, cones?

  30. Lovely photos of the UK. Down here in SW France we don't seem to 'do' Autumn. Everything is green and late-Summery, then within two / three days Autumn is galloped through, leaves all fall off the trees, then whop! Into early Winter. It's amazing, the speed at which the process happens. Quite takes my breath away! English Autumns are slow and stately, with time to savour the changing state the seasons. Here, no!

  31. Diane - i've wanted to see a Rowan tree every since I read Susan Cooper's "Dark is Rising Quintet. The Rowan is even more beautiful thank I expected. Huggles and purrumbles, Michelle and a sleeping Zeb, xxx zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  32. Pam it not pods or cones! It is bunches of berries:-) Thanks for the comment. Diane

  33. Vera I would rather have the slightly longer summer :-) When I left our oak tree was still green, but some of the other trees were dropping their leaves. I was surprised on arrival here how many colours there were in the trees. Diane

  34. Thanks Mary, the colours are quite stunning. The problem is, the best are aways somewhere when one cannot stop the car which is frustrating! Diane

  35. Hi Michelle and Zebby Cat, glad you have now seen the Rowan tree. They are quite spectacular at this time of the year. Have a good week, hugs to you both, Diane xxx

  38. Student Accomodation, thanks for the two comments. I never realised that England was a slower autumn, but compared to France it seems that it is. When we move to France on a permanent basis I will take note of what really does go on over there! Diane
