My apologies, but La Rochelle part 2 will follow soon! I have just realised that I have not edited many of the photos I took then and time is not on my side at the moment! So much fruit and vegetables in the garden which need bottling etc, that my blogs are taking second place to the kitchen, I am afraid. I will get back to normal eventually! These photos have been on my photo blog, but I know that many of you do not follow it. I hope that you enjoy them!
La Rochefoucauld chateau
and its reflection in the Tardoire river!
A hover-fly and a bee on the garlic chives.
Autumn is arriving!
The last of this year's roses.
Sunset.
Green woodpecker.
Peacock butterfly.
An autumn Marigold brightens the day!
Mr Sparrow paddling and shouting it to the world, it seems.
Rainbow
Last but not least, we have had a lot of green lizards around this year.
I will catch up on all your blogs eventually; I promise!
As always, your photos are gorgeous, Diane! It's a busy time of year and it sounds like you will have plenty of canned food to enjoy. I miss our garden and doing that --- we need to chop down trees for sunlight in the yard! :-) Happy Bottling!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam and yes you are right it is a busy time of the year. The quince tree is loaded with fruit and nor many people want to be bothered with it so it is hard to give away. I cannot imagine why as quince is one of out favourite fruits and the jelly is exquisite. The figs I am not just eating as there is only so much I can keep up with! Have a good week Diane
DeleteLovely photos! And I especially like the sparrow!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your visit and comment. I love that sparrow, just wish I knew what he was shouting about :-)) Have a good week Diane

Beautiful.
Rick this is certainly one of the grandest château close by, the family still live in part of the building. Thanks for the comment. Keep well Diane

ReplyDeleteRebecca so glad I could make you smile. Keep well and take care Diane
DeleteSeems canning food for the winter is Most important. I like all of September's photos. BTW, I did get your post card from La Rochelle.
ReplyDeleteHi Gaelyn, So sorry what you must be going through at the moment, it all sound outrageaous to me!! Glad you got the PC. Yes canning is important at present, but it is very time consuming, I will be glad of it all though when winter arrives. Hope all goes well for you Diane
DeleteLovely photos, Diane! They are all beautiful but I especially love the castle reflected in the water. Just superb.
ReplyDeleteJoyful I was over the moon when I saw that photo on my return home. It was even better that I had dared hope! Hope that you are well, take care Diane
DeleteWhat stunning photos, Diane! You must be very patient!!
ReplyDeleteHi Colin and Elizabeth, hmmmm patient I think not. I am one of the most impatient people in the world, ask N he will tell you the same. There are a lot of lucky shots here from quick walks in the garden. I am though very observant and notice the smallest of movements. A skill I was taught in South Africa when looking for wild life in the bush. Hope all s well up there, have a good week. Diane
Deletewow, amazing pictures! I just love the castle but the photos of the nature are also brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ola for the lovely comment. Keep well Diane
DeleteBeautiful photos Diane. The lizard and the sparrow are amazing. It's incredible that you were able to get such a close shot of the normally shy ones. I know you'll enjoy your garden to kitchen bounty all through the winter.
ReplyDeleteSam
Sam there is a lot of luck attached to these photos I can assure you. If only I had the time to sit in hides I am sure I would improve my photos but luck does me pretty well to date. Hope your back is OK, take care Diane
DeleteYour photos just get better and better. Love the fairytale castle... it is magical and the flowers just perfect. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks Deana for your very kind comments, I wish I had more time to spend with the camera but..... Have a good week Diane
DeleteSome fantastic pics, Diane. I like them all, but I love the rose.
ReplyDeleteThank you Gaynor, I am not really sire which is my favourite here, I like them all for different reasons. Have a good week Diane
DeleteI can just imagine how busy you are storing produce for the winter....so thanks for taking the time to give us these stunning photographs...I really enjoyed the lizard...I used to like seeing them about.
ReplyDeleteFly I love those Green lizards and the one has got quite used to me, I can get fairly close if I move slowly. Sorry I am not doing much visiting but..... I will catch up. Hope all is well with you both Diane
DeleteNo wonder these are your favourites, they're all stunning! Great set of shots, Diane.
ReplyDeleteThanks JM, from you that is a great compliment as your photos are fantastic. Have a good day Diane
DeleteHi Diane .. absolutely lovely photos - particularly the woody woodpecker - green or no .. he's great and yes I know he really is a green one .. the green lizard is wonderful to see - while the sparrow - love them .. and the rest ...
ReplyDeleteGreat photographer you are .. cheers for now - and happy days with all that picking, pickling and bottling .. Hilary
Thanks Hilary for all your kind comments. I wish I was a great photographer and if only I understood all the fancy settings, maybe one day I will get the hang of it! Lots of luck, and some great insects and animals around our garden. Keep well Diane
DeleteYour photos are always a pleasure to see...I especially like the chateau reflected in the river. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the comment. You like the same one as I do, lucky shot the water was still as a mirror. Have a good weekend. Diane
DeleteBeautiful photos, but that rose is outstanding. Glad someone else is up to their ears in bottling as well!
ReplyDeleteVera I feel like I am drowning in bottles at the moment, but come winter I will appreciate them! I am trying to give quinces away but few people can be bothered with them. It is sad as they are one of the nicest fruits of all, just takes a bit more work. I can only bottle or make jelly to a certain number. The shelves are already heaving and I have another month or so before the medlar tree will be ready!! Meanwhile we also have figs coming out of our ears and haricot beans. Have a great weekend :-) Diane
DeleteYour pictures are beautiful. I am envious of all your opportunities for these wonderful pics, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah, many are lucky shots but we are lucky to have quite a bit of small wild life around in the garden and a few nice flowers. Have a great weekend. Diane
DeleteYou take such good pictures. I honestly don't know which one is my favourite as they are all great, but Mr Sparrow might have stolen my heart for a mment there.
ReplyDeleteRed
Thanks so much Red for the lovely compliment. I like each one in its own way, they are all so different, but yes I love that sparrow as well. Have a good day Diane
DeleteGreat shots especially the close ups. The Chateau and its reflection is lovely too. Keep up the good work in the kitchen and we'll see you back in blogland when it is too cold to do anything else.
ReplyDeleteThank you diane, I also love that reflection. The quinces just keep arriving, the tree never lets up and now the medlars as well!!!! Have a great weekend. Diane
DeleteBeautiful photos Diane....I especially love the sunset one:) Have a good week!

Although present in the surroundings, he is so elusive in my garden!

DeleteI love all of your photos, but the rose is sensational. You must have quite the zoom lens to get such a wonderful shot of the splashing sparrow.
ReplyDeleteThanks Margie, maximum zoom is 300 but I take them from the lounge through the window and I am fairly close. Hope all is well with you Diane
DeleteI loved these photos but the one of the reflected chateau was arresting. Don't work to hard! Have a good weekend. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary for the kind comment. I have to admit I am getting a bit fed up with bottling and being in the kitchen but I also know I will enjoy the results :-) Take care Diane
