Icy Wind! - Part 37

The sun is shining and the sky is blue, but the icy cold Northerly wind is doing its very best to make life miserable!  Not too much activity outside today.

Last night's dinner, Lapin Chasseur, accompanied by potatoes, Jerusalem Artichoke (from the garden) with garlic and green beans with cashew nuts, was quite delicious and we still have plenty  for tonight.

I took this picture of a friendly little bee a couple of days ago. I say friendly as he was not interested in my movements, thankfully, as I am allergic to bees! In the cold and windy weather today, he is probably trying to find a well-protected tree with plenty of blossom. I am still wondering what the interest was for him in a cactus  plant!

The search for wire netting to protect the vegetable garden (hopefully) against the wild rabbits has been successfully concluded.  Today we  ordered the netting online and I now need to wait for it to be delivered.  Next step is to put it up, which will include burying enough into the ground to stop the rabbits digging under it.  As Nigel will be back in the UK by the time it arrives, I may have to ask David to give me a helping hand.  He has not much spare time at present as with his two sons (well one, the other is not so keen on manual labour!) he is putting in a swimming pool.

This evening we are all off to Octavie for aperitifs so we will hear the latest episode on the swimming pool.

  2. The photo is a treat. You have a clear eye. I'm not so sure I'd have seen the bee. It is a lovely shot. Have a great day. Blessings...Mary

  3. Welcome Becca, Your garden looks wonderful. We have very few flowers as we are only here for the summer and my energy goes into the vegetable garden. Usually this is cheap living for me on my own during summer, but the rabbit population this year is pushing up the cost!! I become almost vegetarian when alone as the garden just overflows.

  4. Hi Mary, my photos used to be rubbish. Joan http://saphotographs.blogspot.com/ has been my inspiration to improve. I am now looking for all sorts of things to take photos of that I would never have dreamt of before. Have a good day.

  5. What a wonderful shot of the bee Diane. Dinner sounds great and all the better for some of it having come out of your garden.

Is it ever going to warm up do you think? This weather is most unusual!!

  6. Hi Joan, The weather is horrible! Everyone here is complaining about the long winter and it still seems to be dragging on!
Glad you like the bee. You have been my inspiration to improve my photographs.
