We will be away in a few days time to celebrate Christmas in England with my father-in-law. As we are flying, our computers will be staying at home; only the Nexus will be with us for emails, and maybe the odd single photo on the photodiary. I find that blogging on this tablet is beyond me, so I will resume early in the New Year!
I have reviewed my diary photos for 2014 and picked a favourite for each month, for this post. All photos, except a couple which are taken nearby, were taken in our garden.
17/02/14 Snowdrops.
08/03/14 Early lamb
12/04/14 La Rochefoucauld château and its reflection in the river.
12/05/14 Iris.
01/06/14 Humming bird hawk moth.
15/07/14 Common swallowtail.
17/08/14 Cat sitting for our neighbour
17/09/14 Black kite.
26/10/14 Cotoneaster and spider web.
11/11/14 Peacock butterfly

ReplyDeleteThanks so much Nadege, We just pray that the UK is not too cold! Take care, bonnes vacances Diane and Nigel.
DeleteWhat superb photographs! Lucky you, to see the beauty with which you are surrounded .I seem to remember that your father in law is somewhat deaf...will your luggage allowance be taken up with loud hailers and an ear trumpet?
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely break....
Tot siens.
Thanks so much fly. I read your posts on my email and then plan to pass a comment but somehow time has not been on our side. I love your posts and they always make me laugh, well usually,I loved the heaving on and off the bus :-)) Yes you are right his hearing aid does not generally work very well ,,,,, Never though of an ear trumpet. We are taking very little clothes just lots of layers which we will have to somehow keep drying after washing. Cases will come back loaded though with things that we can't buy here. I make do when I can't get them but it is nice to stock up when we go especially our herbal tea. Driving is so much easier but this time we decided otherwise. All the best to you both tot siens, bonnes vacances, Diane and Nigel

DeleteI know right? Blogging is a wonderful thing that I learned and love.
DeleteHi Diane - what a wonderful collection of photos - loved seeing them all!! Gorgeous .. gloomy here for now - your FIL will be very happy to have you with him ... take care and enjoy the English Christmas time ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteGloomy here Hilary but I am trying for cheerful photos :-) Thanks for following and commenting much appreciated. Happy Christmas Diane
DeleteWonderful photos. I especially like the picture of the hummingbird. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to me that people from the U.K. say "Happy Christmas" while we here in the U.S. say "Merry Christmas." We never use the word "merry" for anything other than an adjective with Christmas. It seems more like a word the British would use.
In any event, a very Merry Christmas to you! May it be blessed and full of joy. :)
Thanks Bill, and a very Merry Christmas to you as well. Take care Diane
DeleteFabulous photos Diane! Merry Christmas and I wish you safe and happy traveling. See you in the New Year.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much Cathy hope you have a good one as well Diane
DeleteHappy Birthday Cathy. Have tried to leave a message on your blog but unable to as I refuse to use Google plus. Many people could not comment on my blog when I tried +, so I then returned to normal and all seems well again except I cannot comment on yours!! Diane
DeleteHahaha!!
ReplyDeleteWith your 2 blogs, I am always missing something somewhere!! LOL!
Ok, so you're celebrating Xmas with your father-in-law, a great idea, he must be thrilled!
Well weather-wise, I wish you good luck!!
Keep well and come back safely!
Thanks Noushka, not looking forward to the colder than here..... but it is good that we will be with my FIL. Take care Diane
DeleteI'm not sure what temperatures you are used to at home in the winter, Diane, but it's not too bad here in the UK at the moment. Mind you, that could change in an instant and probably will !! It has been very unsettled for a few weeks now. If you're going to be anywhere near the middle of England, I'd be happy to show you some Little Owls.
ReplyDeleteI love your portfolio of photos, presented in this résumé of your year. They are all wonderful, but the Humming Bird Hawk Moth is truly a triumph!
Bon voyage - - - - Richard
Wow Richard what an offer, how I would love to take you up on it but!!!!! Sadly we will be based in Devizes and we can not travel far. Long story which I will not bore you with here. I see the temperature there tomorrow is highest 6C which is certainly colder than here at present, but it looks like it may warm up after that a bit of with rain.
DeleteThanks for your kind comments, much appreciated. Have a great Christmas and New Year. Next visit we will drive rather than fly and maybe I can take you up on the Little Owl offer. Diane
Merry Christmas to you, and thanks for the lovely bird pictures. My they are gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great holiday with lots of wonderful food.
Thanks Deana, hope you have good one as well. Take care Diane
DeleteDiane, I love the lambs, the kitten and most of all, La Rochefoucauld château. Gorgeous photos, all of them really. Have a good time celebrating with your FIL and be safe in your travels to and from England. Keep well and see you back in 2015!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam for the kind comment. Hope you have a very merry Christmas and a wonderful 2015. Keep well Diane
DeleteThose photos are gorgeous – I don’t know which one is my favorite, maybe the first and last one of birds, but they are all superb. Have a great time back home with your family. Eat and drink anything that you missed while in France, maybe a great cup of tea – I heard it tastes different in the UK because of the water (?). I always used to go to England at Christmas time because it was so much fun. I wish I could go there now. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Vagabonde for the lovely comment. We both hate tea so it is not something we will be drinking in the UK, we only drink ginger and lemon and will our case will be full when we go back to France. We can buy it there but a different make and not as good! Not much we miss from the UK , miss a lot more of France when we are there though 😊
DeleteHave a wonderful Christmas and all the best for you both in 2015. Diane
Καλά Χριστούγεννα Diane!
