Wishing everyone happy holidays and all the best for 2015!

We will be away in a few days time to celebrate Christmas in England with my father-in-law. As we are flying, our computers will be staying at home; only the Nexus will be with us for emails, and maybe the odd single photo on the photodiary.  I find  that blogging on this tablet is beyond me, so I will resume early in the New Year!

I have reviewed my diary photos for 2014 and picked a favourite for each month, for this post.  All photos, except a couple which are taken nearby, were taken in our garden.
18/01/14 Mrs Blackbird taking a bath.

17/02/14 Snowdrops.

08/03/14 Early lamb

12/04/14 La Rochefoucauld château and its reflection in the river.

12/05/14 Iris.

01/06/14 Humming bird hawk moth.

15/07/14 Common swallowtail.

17/08/14 Cat sitting for our neighbour

17/09/14 Black kite.

26/10/14 Cotoneaster and spider web.

11/11/14 Peacock butterfly

    1. Thanks so much fly. I read your posts on my email and then plan to pass a comment but somehow time has not been on our side. I love your posts and they always make me laugh, well usually,I loved the heaving on and off the bus :-)) Yes you are right his hearing aid does not generally work very well ,,,,, Never though of an ear trumpet. We are taking very little clothes just lots of layers which we will have to somehow keep drying after washing. Cases will come back loaded though with things that we can't buy here. I make do when I can't get them but it is nice to stock up when we go especially our herbal tea. Driving is so much easier but this time we decided otherwise. All the best to you both tot siens, bonnes vacances, Diane and Nigel

  18. Wonderful photos. I especially like the picture of the hummingbird. Amazing.

It's interesting to me that people from the U.K. say "Happy Christmas" while we here in the U.S. say "Merry Christmas." We never use the word "merry" for anything other than an adjective with Christmas. It seems more like a word the British would use.

In any event, a very Merry Christmas to you! May it be blessed and full of joy. :)

  26. I'm not sure what temperatures you are used to at home in the winter, Diane, but it's not too bad here in the UK at the moment. Mind you, that could change in an instant and probably will !! It has been very unsettled for a few weeks now. If you're going to be anywhere near the middle of England, I'd be happy to show you some Little Owls.

I love your portfolio of photos, presented in this résumé of your year. They are all wonderful, but the Humming Bird Hawk Moth is truly a triumph!

    Bon voyage - - - - Richard

    1. Wow Richard what an offer, how I would love to take you up on it but!!!!! Sadly we will be based in Devizes and we can not travel far. Long story which I will not bore you with here. I see the temperature there tomorrow is highest 6C which is certainly colder than here at present, but it looks like it may warm up after that a bit of with rain.

Thanks for your kind comments, much appreciated. Have a great Christmas and New Year. Next visit we will drive rather than fly and maybe I can take you up on the Little Owl offer. Diane

  29. Those photos are gorgeous – I don’t know which one is my favorite, maybe the first and last one of birds, but they are all superb. Have a great time back home with your family. Eat and drink anything that you missed while in France, maybe a great cup of tea – I heard it tastes different in the UK because of the water (?). I always used to go to England at Christmas time because it was so much fun. I wish I could go there now. Enjoy!

    1. Thanks so much Vagabonde for the lovely comment. We both hate tea so it is not something we will be drinking in the UK, we only drink ginger and lemon and will our case will be full when we go back to France. We can buy it there but a different make and not as good! Not much we miss from the UK , miss a lot more of France when we are there though 😊
Have a wonderful Christmas and all the best for you both in 2015. Diane
