Up, Up and Away

I was hanging out some washing early on this quiet Sunday morning, when I heard a strange noise in the sky!! I looked around, but could see nothing, and it certainly was not a bird!  The noise continued and suddenly, above the local  farm buildings, appeared a powered hang glider, followed by another one and yet another! I think there were 5 I saw in all.  They circled around  our area for a while, then headed off, back to wherever they came from!

Normal service will be resumed ASAP; we are frantically painting 3 new rooms upstairs in the barn; the new timber floor finish will be laid next week - post on this will follow.

  1. We have a powered hang gliders field opposite to us, and when they are flying I am forever anxious in case one falls out of the sky as they do look so fragile, especially when the motor on one of them does a hiccough! Hope you have loads of energy to get that painting finished, then you can come and paint our Half Barn for us!

  2. Hello Diane:
we love to see hang gliders in the air. Just like big colourful birds. But, as for ever trying this out for ourselves, oh no!

You sound to have a lot of work going on in the house. We shall be so interested to see the finished results!

    1. Graham I would not mind going up but I would not appreciate coming down, better to stay on terra firma! We do not mind painting, but this was under pressure, not good. Three days to do the base coat and two coats of paint on 3 rooms two with very high ceilings. Nigel has a foot and balance problem so everything beyond his reach is my job! We ache all over! Diane

  16. New rooms are always exciting, and I'll bet you'll be pleased when the flooring is finished. It must feel great to finally be making real progress on getting your house and barn just as you want them.

Once or twice a year hot air balloons fly over our house, and it's always entertaining. I love your pictures of the hang gliders; they must have been a nice change of pace.

    1. Marjie at the end of all this I should have a room that is all mine :-) I can sew, paint, and do my own thing without having to put everything away each time. Bliss.

We were lucky to see the hang gliders as we have been shut inside painting flat out over the past few days. It was a good job I had to hang the washing out :-) Diane

    1. Where do you think you will move to if the house goes on the market? I presume something smaller near Melbourne or maybe I am completely wrong. I think your ideal would be 6 months in France and 6 months in Ozz, I know I would be more than happy with that, the problem is the expense!! Diane
