A Grey Day Part 33

Yesterday, Thursday, the weather was grey and cool, but dry; today we are promised that it will be a bit warmer, so hopefully the weather report has got it right!

After a bad night on Thursday with toothache, I have to say that I accomplished very little, but Nigel has almost finished digging over the vegetable garden for me. For once in my life, I am looking forward to the earliest dentist appointment I could make - next Wednesday.

We had some neighbours around last evening for aperitifs, which event gave Nigel a good chance to practice his French. I do understand a lot more now than I used to, but my accent is so bad that no one understands me, even if I do try to speak French! Learning a new language when one gets older is not easy! No matter, our neighbours in the hamlet are very flexible and forgiving and our efforts to speak French are genuinely appreciated. A good time appeared to be had by all and everyone was here until well after the normal "apero" closure time.

I must get some vegetable seedlings planted ASAP or the produce will be late in arriving!!

The rhubarb is sprouting well

as is the sorrel, great with scrambled eggs or liquidised as soup. Click HERE for recipe.

We are quite worried about the asparagus; the rabbits are flourishing well here in the area, and it appears that they are digging to get at the roots.  I am not a happy bunny!  Investigations are actively under way into the availability and the price of wire netting!

  1. That is probably the worst thing I can have and that is toothache!! Luckily, I never have it.

Oh, I love rhubarb and will be over when you pick it. :)

  2. Hi Joan, You are welcome to come and pick some Rhubarb we always have surplus in summer.
The dentist has just phoned to say they have a cancellation this afternoon so hopefully the problem will be sorted out quickly. No I do not usually get toothache either, this time it has arrived in full force!

  4. Hi Pam, We are also looking forward to the sun and summer. It has been a very long winter here and although the sun was half out today there was a very cold northerly wind
